Films: They Live (1988)
Alias: Various
Type: Alien
Location: Civilized area
Height/Weight: That of average humans.
Affiliation: Evil
Summary: Some aliens prefer a subtler way of taking over the world. You could make the argument that the aliens here have already succeeded where others have failed. Thing is though, it's nice to check for any resistance after all is said and done...
History: Having arrived to Earth at some point, these bizarre aliens have somehow completely blended into society, using a complex satellite to disguise their true forms and the messages they have put in all media (obey, consume, sleep, the works). Only those with special sunglasses can see beyond the masquerade, and for now, a couple of losers are our last hope. If they can get past some evil humans first.
Notable Kills: Nothing special.
Final Fate: The alien lie is exposed by none other than Keith David, who flips them all off upon activating the destruction of the satellite. From there, the alien regime can only crumble.
Powers/Abilities: Can disguise themselves as humans, and cast illusions on society with their tech.
Weakness: If the satellite is destroyed, the gig is up. Conventional means can kill them, anyway.
Scariness Factor: 3-Admittingly, it's a scary thought to have your entire perception on society and media turned upside-down. But then again, they're as fragile as any other person, and once the lie is uncovered, it can only go downhill for them.
Trivia: -The infamously long fist-fight in this film, according to director John Carpenter, took three weeks to rehearse.
-This film was released on November 8th so that it would coincide with the presidential election at the time. A fitting date for an incredibly satirical movie.
